There are many activities that can be turned into moviemaking projects. The script writing part of moviemaking is where the students must really work hard to synthesize learning. Writing a report is formulaic and doesn't always mean the students have 'gotten' it. When the writing needs to make sense when read, a student realizes there will be more work to the writing. This is the revising part of writing that students regularly gloss over. Revising is too often nothing more than editing. In moviemaking, the editing is the part where students decide on appropriate visuals, transitions, movements and/or music. The final movie is the publishing of the work. As with the writing process, the final publication might not happen every time.
